ANISA PILAR

Milwaukee-based Anisa Pilar is an Indigenous Latina Artist who specializes in painting, fabrics, and photography. She pushes the boundaries of brown beauty and what it means to be Indigenous but also Mexican (Tejana). Her work explores many subjects, the memories of her family’s past, the meaning of healing, and looking back at Indigenous history . She is currently studying at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
